Violence at Howe Community Park Results in Four Victims Wounded in Arden-Arcade Sacramento

Officials in Sacramento County are working a gun violence incident that took place on April 18 2026 at the Howe Community Park area just as Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were breaking up a large unauthorized gathering of a crowd of several hundred.

Before the Gunfire

Sacramento County law enforcement first arrived at the Arden-Arcade park just after 6:30 Saturday evening after receiving reports of people potentially armed with concealed firearms. Not long after, a follow-up call was made mentioning a reported physical confrontation taking place within the park grounds.

Aerial units flew over the park but found nothing to substantiate the fight report. Even so, deputies found that hundreds of people had packed into the park without official sanction.

The Dispersal and Shooting

Law enforcement personnel moved to clear the area by positioning themselves around the crowd and broadcasting over loudspeakers ordering those gathered to disperse at once. Around 15 minutes were spent for the gathering to break up.

Just as the crowd began to move that upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the night. Gunfire sent the crowd running in all directions. Responding personnel quickly moved to finding those who had been shot.

Four Gunshot Victims

In total, four people were found to have been shot. The shooting victims — a group of one female and three male victims all reportedly in their mid to late twenties — were transported to nearby hospitals. Medical teams noted that two had critical injury classifications, one of the four had moderate gunshot wounds, and one sustained minor gunshot wounds. In a positive development, no fatalities were reported and all four were stable.

Sacramento Metro Fire arrived on scene and aided in treating those with Arden Arcade shooting April 2026 gunshot wounds prior to hospital transport.

Crime Scene Evidence

The bulk of the shooting seemed to have been concentrated on Cottage Way near the Home Depot store situated at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. Law enforcement investigators located more spent casings along Cottage Way. Bullet holes were observed in the wrought iron perimeter fencing adjacent to the Home Depot. These findings pointed to that a second shooter had been aiming south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. The Home Depot was put under lockdown while the scene was active. Crime scene personnel kept processing evidence late into the evening.

Suspects Detained

Information obtained over scanner radio traffic showed that a Kia vehicle had been detained in Solano County. Four individuals were taken into custody. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were sent to retrieve the detainees to bring the suspects back for further questioning. Surveillance footage made clear that two separate shooters participated in the incident.
